Flower Arrangement Class.

Recently, I went for a floral arrangement class at Touch of Eden at Wisma Central, KL. It's actually a deal I purchased from Milkadeal worth "RM168 instead of RM400 for 135 minutes of Hands-on Flower Arrangement Class using Artificial & Fresh Flowers + Ribbon Techniques".

Yes, I realize that I was 8 months pregnant. Pardon moi, I couldn't resist the deal. It was cheap and most importantly I get to expand my knowledge and skills, and perhaps these could benefit me at Bungaa.
 
As I arrive, I was greeted by a sweet and pleasant looking lady, almost teacher-like named Ms. Mandy. As soon as I settled down, familiarising to the surroundings and briefly introduced myself, we started the class. To my surprise and much to my liking, I was the only student scheduled for that time. I was happy or what! A one-on-one class just for me :)

Fyi, Ms. Mandy has been in the industry for more than 20 years and here I am, an amateur learning from one highly skillful lady. Mestilah intimidated kan. Takut pun ada hehe. But one shouldn't be afraid to learn, yes?

So for starters, I chose to learn how to arrange an assortment of artificial flowers. I was acquainted with the different tools used for artificial arrangements, given a small basket, three sizes of flowers, leaves and a few others. Ms. Mandy taught me the proper techniques on how to arrange and what are the things to consider etc and this was my output:

What do you think? I think with more practice, the arrangement can be better. Practice makes perfect kan? Hehe.

The second segment was learning the ribbon technique. Boyy this one was a challenge! I was asked to do the 2 loop ribbon - which was a no biggie *blows nails* hehe then as I mastered, I went on to learn the 3 loop, then 4 loop, 5 loop, 6 loop, 8 loop and 9 loop ribbon. Menggigil-gigil okay. Haha. I took quite some time doing it cause the ribbon that she gave me was sliding away from my fingers! After almost 40 minutes, voila, here's how my ribbon looked like:

Not bad ay? Haha. Ms. Mandy told me to practice 50 times to get it to be perfect within seconds.

Of course I haven't been practicing. Sure she marah. Haha.

And the last segment was fresh flower hand bouquet arrangement. I was given gerberas to begin with, which is good since I once had a bad experience handling that type of flower for a customer. So now I know how to make the flowers last and look vibrant till it reaches to the hand of the customer :) This bouquet was given to my husband as a father's day bouquet (coincidentally it was father's day that day) and of course la Hashley was proud of me. I did everything from scratch - from arranging the flowers to the wrapping papers, complete with the ribbons. I was proud of myself hahaha.

So there you go, that was what I learned at my floral arrangement class. I have every intention to learn further as in attend a professional course on floral arrangement and perhaps get a certificate after I'm done with confinement one day, insya Allah. Who knows I can open up a shop? :D

Floral February :D

I know I'm supposed to be resting and sleeping when I am given the chance to but I can't help myself to do things I'm passionate about. So when people asked me whether I can do floral arrangements (bouquets etc) and baking, I will try my best to do them. So there you go, my February orders :)

25 pieces boutonnieres : theme - turquoise and silver.

I had extra flowers so I gave my customer a free mini bouquet for the bridesmaid. My bibik helped me with this one :)

Aster and baby blue hydrangeas.

Hand bouquet : theme - turquoise and silver. This was the initial bouquet but the hydrangeas died on me few hours before it was supposed to be given to the bride so I panicked and rushed home to replace with another bouquet (see below)

The bride wanted the ribbons to be in turquoise colour with silver gems. Since the first bouquet was a mish mash, with the help of mom, we produced this one - orchids, baby's breath and okay I forgot the purple flower's name. Pfft hee.

This one was ordered at the eleventh hour but thankfully, still managed to do it. I really liked this one :)

Hope you like my arrangements as much as I do. I hope to learn how to do more than just posey or contemporary design. I have ideas so we shall wait for the next opportunity :)

Of Pretty Things.

Here are some of the things that I was up to in the last couple of months, well .. besides everything else :)

Hand bouquet for one of my BGFF's engagement.

Reception hand bouquet.

40 pieces corsage using flower pin etc.

50 pieces Carnation corsage.

So far this side business that I'm involved with is doing great. Considering that this is something I do out of passion more than business per se, the number of bookings were more than what I expected, for that I count my blessings. Umbrella rentals were almost full bookings this month alone, a couple in March, I have 3 hand bouquet orders also due in March so far, and a hantaran arrangement in April. Not bad kan? So if you're interested with any of these, you know what to do :)

What do you think of the hantaran arrangement that I did for my very first customer ie. my stepbrother? The theme was maroon and gold, so I came up with these. He's one happy customer, in fact my stepfam loved it too. Syukur :) I'm quite keen to hear some feedbacks though!

For this weekend, I gotta do 40 pieces corsages in maroon and silver theme and a flower arrangement for his bridal suite. And Insya Allah next week, a hand bouquet. Not too bad for a start ay? After all, I'm doing all these because it's something I'm passionate about. More like a hobby too :)
