Kraaaaabi!

I just got back from a much awaited trip to Krabi, Thailand with H a couple of hours ago. I must admit that this is by far, the most relaxing holiday I've ever had ... perhaps the ideal honeymoon that one should have. Okay stop the imagination there. Hehe.

We bought the tickets back in November 2009, when AirAsia was having one of its regular flight feasts and secured ourselved an AirAsiaGo's package for 4 days 3 nights at Ananta Burin Resort, Aonang with airport transfers to and fro for RM600 sometime recent. Yeap, only RM600, excluding tickets. But tickets were only priced about RM200 max per person. Kindly do the math yourselves please :)

The flight to Krabi was quite a rocky one, even me who's not afraid of turbulences usually, was quite disturbed by the air pocket. Alhamdullilah, landed safely at Krabi International Airport at about 130pm (230pm our local time), just in time for check in.

After checking in and getting ourselves comfy with the room and its pretty decent facilities, we dashed out of the hotel for suit-surveying (then later tailor made one) and purchased the Phi Phi Island tour package at one of the travel & tour agencies along the street of Aonang.

Oh, in case you're wondering, Krabi is not an island, it's a beach and Aonang is the famous destination for tourists from all sorts of countries. Most of the employers at the shops are either Thai locals or Bangladeshis (and these Bangladeshis mostly conquer the tailors. Don't ask me, I don't know why hehe) and Aonang street is facing the beach. Just imagine Kuta, Bali or Pulau Pangkor. You have to cross the street to get to the beach, okay? Along this street too lines the abundance of hotels or resorts or villas.

As you all might have known, Thailand's spa treatment and packages are far cry cheaper than the ones available here so when you're there, pretty please make time to indulge yourselves. I did manicure and pedicure for 100 Baht each (yeap, about 10-12 bucks) and 1 hour Thai with Oil Massage for only 300 Baht. So a total of 500 Baht for all of the above which is about 50 at the max 60 bux locally and that's like maybe a 3/4 hour of the Thai massage here. Kat KL ni 1 hour Thai Massage alone is about RM75. See, rugi right if tak buat kat sana. Even H who's not into massages and spas fell for this. He even did pedicure after I coaxed the hell out of him :)

And speaking of cheap stuff, H and I tailor made ourselves a new pair of suit. I made a navy blue cashmere and silk (I think?) 5 button jacket, a 3/4 pencil skirt full lining and trousers for much less than what KL's market price is! H also did a pair of slate dark gray suit with a shirt. Cheaaappppp! Am so going to make another one whenever I go to Thailand.

When it comes to food, oh my, Krabi has the awesomest smoothies and shakes around! I never loved Banana smoothies but now, I can't stop thinking about it. It's like we've both been casted with the banana spell. Haha. They also have this pancake which is not the pancake like what we know of, it's actually like a roti canai but served with sweet things. H and I tried the one with nutella and okay, sedap gila *mouth watering now* No doubt that you have to ask them if it's halal or not (if you can't detect the halal sign) and if they say it's halal, just ask them again if they serve pork. What's worth mentioning is that the seafood restaurant called Wangsai is a must must place to dine! Its mango salad, seafood tom yam, seafood semua sedap sangat sangat rasa macam nak nangis makan. Their tom yam is just original .. not too spicy and not too soury. Just perfect, according to my taste! I loved it!

And about Phi Phi Island tour, it was amazing. Despite the casual drizzlings, it was mostly sunny through out, syukur Alhamdullilah. Among others, we stopped by at Maya Bay, the popular place at Phi Phi Island where the movie "The Beach" acted by Leonardo Dicaprio was shot. It was beautiful, masya Allah. The water was teal, turquoise, crystal clear blue. I don't think I'm able to depict the beauty of the island. If only it was sunnier and I wasn't with a tour group .. I would have stayed there for more than 2 hours to sun tan. Pure bliss :)

Apart from all these, I enjoyed looking at the beautiful limestones, picturesque sceneries all surrounding us and not forgetting the beach swims.

We also went to Krabi Town Night Market which is about half an hour from Aonang by mini van. This is the real place to shop ladies! What you see online is what you can find at these places but with a fraction of the prices. I bought two pairs of shoes, a watch, three tops for myself and 3 other pairs of shoes for sister, sil and mom in law, bought a gorgeous rattan handbag for mom, a thai linen white shirt for dad, watches for bibik and bakhtiar and a tshirt for my brother. H already bought a pair of shorts for fil and sunnies for bil. Please excuse the married woman's jargons. Hehe. Oh, all of the above only costs us prolly 200 - 250 bucks. Sadly I couldn't find anything I liked for Mokky and Adek. Bummerr.

So anyways, generally, that was what we did. I had a lot of fun relaxing, eating, spending time with H. In fact, to be able to do this with my husband probably is the best part of the whole trip. For that, I count my blessings ... syukur Alhamdullilah.

I will definitely go to Krabi again, god willing :) Will post up pictures in the next post.
